The Pickle Shed seeds were sown when Personal Development Coach, Cheryl Goldenberg, began to focus her sights on women returning to work after maternity leave. Her work formed the basis of a well- researched book documenting the progress of a diverse collection of talented and ambitious women struggling to fulfill their personal and career aspirations without simply becoming a weekend Mum.
“The Pickle Shed’s given me the opportunity to clarify what I do and don't want to do in the future. I've set myself goals and am working out ways to achieve them”
Next, she gathered together a small group of women looking for ways to get back to work after being temporarily swallowed up by motherhood. They began to confront their concerns, including
- Loss of confidence
- Fear of getting left behind
- Feeling isolated
- Feeling stuck
- Lack of financial independence
- An overwhelming feeling of losing their previously well-established identity
“It's been great to talk to like-minded women in a similar stage in their lives. It's been really helpful to share our issues whether it's about childcare, self-esteem or money and together we have found lots of solutions”
This was the genesis of the first Pickle Shed coaching group and during the following six months our fledgling group began to overcome their fears and hold each other accountable for taking action to move forward.
